Projects
DRC Partnership Bursary to Higher Education
The project seeks to help overcome financial restrictions, which can prevent NDC residents from progressing to higher education.
The aim is to:
- Increase the number of NDC residents going into higher education. Current data shows only 3% of Devonport residents holding degree level qualifications against a national NDC aggregate of 8% (MORI 2004)
- Help to raise educational aspirations within NDC residents by providing role models for young people/adults in the area of academic achievement as a route to success.
- To encourage families to consider university as an option for their children.
The proposal will assist local people to enter full time first degree courses and it is hoped results in improved levels of degree completion will enhance the perceived value of life long learning in Devonport.
